These unique handcrafted washi switchplate covers
are perfect for any room of your home/office.
Each piece is unique and made in small batches to insure the
highest possible quality. The details of the design
(patterns/colours) will vary, because each switchplate print is
hand-selected and cut from a larger sheet of paper
(Average paper size: 25"x38"). I use only the best durable
plastic switchplates in the market, USA made by Leviton
and Eagle brands. All covers are standard size and fit
any common (United States and Canada) light switch or
dimmer. The screws have been spray painted in gold to
compliment each switchplate cover.
Please note that due to the nature of these hand screened washi
(Japanese paper) you will find variations in colour, texture,
and/or design pattern. These variations may be slightly different
from one switchplate to the next.
Process to make one switchplate:
Each durable plastic switchplate is individually covered with an
exquisite washi paper and sealed with many layers of non-toxic
polyurethane varnish for added durability. Each finished
switchplate is recorded, numbered, checked for tears,
bubbles, creases and carefully inspected before each
coat of polyurethane varnish. The process to make
one switchplate cover may take approximately two
to four weeks to complete, this is mainly due to
curing time and **weather conditions.
Please read below:
NOTE **Some weather conditions, such as working in low temperature
increases the curing time up to several days to weeks or months during the
cold and raining season (usually August through May ~ San Francisco
weather is unpredictable). Ideal temperature for the varnish to cure correctly is high 70 plus degrees (3 to 5 days). High humidity conditions seal
unwanted moisture between varnish layers, causing a milky or cloudy look
(the switchplates at this point are discarded)
How to take care of your new switchplate:
To clean the surface:
The switchplates can be wiped clean by using a soft clean
cloth, dampened with a small amount of mild soap and water solution.
When installing your switchplate, please take
care not to over tighten the screws.
